19 Aug 09: Something new this week.
Our Chairman Ian is pretty hot on his wines and there are some great wines around. Retailers need our business... and who are we to disappoint them!
"I know the wine buyer at Marks & Spencer, and they don't sell any bad wines. Their prices are very competitive at the moment, especially Las Fallanas from Spain. They do a red, white and a rose £3.99 each or 3 for a tenner - you cannot beat it.
Some others worth trying:
Le Froglet Shiraz Beziers. Vins de Pays d'Oc France
Chocolate and blackcurrant flavours from this red wine from southern French region. Recently recommended by newspaper articles and very good value at £4.95 at Marks & Spencer.
Prosecco NV Italy via Mark & Spencer
Extra dry fizz which I am now preferring to cheaper champagnes. This is a particularly good one, and I see it is down to £6.99 from £8.99.
And finally, a limited release from Wine Rack
Villa Maria Sauvignon Blanc 2006 in magnums Limited Anniversary Release Marlborough New Zealand
This is the biggest bargain I have seen for years. It's one of my favourite wines from New Zealand, and they're selling it in magnums (a double bottle, but priced at £9.98 a magnum, that's £4.99 a bottle). Bargain of the year!
Enjoy but drink sensibly, especially the magnum!
