Demand for talent is on the up!

Any of you who have worked in our industry will know just how difficult it is to win and retain great team members! NB: Here at bartlett mitchell we always call them team and never employees. However, some recent research from some of the BIG NAMES in statistical gathering have underpinned how it’s getting even more difficult. According to the Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC) and KPMG Report on Jobs demand for those working in hotel and contract catering jobs in the UK increased in June 2011.

The facts (here’s the heavy stuff!)

The ratings say that temporary hotel and catering positions had an index reading of 55.1, with anything above 50 meaning that demand increased. As for permanent hospitality jobs, the index reading was slightly lower at 52.1, but still an increase in demand. This means even more pressure to find genuinely foodie people.

The report also says that in the hospitality industry the main positions lacking skilled candidates are Chef Jobs. This is set to continue, so things like training and support (which are always so high on our agenda) will need to stay high if we are to win and keep the ‘cream of the crop’ for our clients and customers!

On the plus side, if you’re looking for a job in catering check out our website or twitter for jobs!

My earliest food memories are of my mum’s baking; coconut pyramid cakes were my favourite.
