As has now become an annual tradition, we once again hosted bartlett mitchell team members and clients at Taste of London 2019 in Regents Park – with close to 300 people enjoying the best of London’s food and drink and of course great company! Since the Great British Summer has been as reliable as ever we all kept our fingers firmly crossed for dry weather and thankfully we got what we wished for; making the event even more enjoyable!

What is Taste of London

For those who haven’t been to Taste of London event before, it is an outdoor restaurant and drinks festival, where both established and new London restaurants sell mini tasters of their signature dishes. Many see Taste of London, in mid-June, as the start of the summer season events in and around London, and the event has now gone regional with Taste events popping up in several UK cities over the summer months.

Inspiring our Teams

It was great to hear the surprise, from one our recently recruited head chefs, who was attending his first ever Taste of London event with bartlett mitchell . He couldn’t quite believe the size of our group and asked how many other catering companies did this on this scale; the simple answer is that no one else does!

It is important for our chefs, management and front of house teams to see and taste food from new and established restaurants; always a great way of picking up new ideas. We find this event supports the development of our culinary teams in a different way to our classroom or kitchen craft training workshops.  As they are the future of our business and continued innovation, we need a broad and exciting exposure to different ideas – Taste is great for achieving that, particularly since not all our team members have the opportunity to eat out on a regular basis.

In between the restaurant stands, there was also an opportunity to browse the many artisan food stalls, and of course bars. Belazu was once again our main meeting point in between touring the various food and drink stands, so team members and clients could enjoy a drink together, network and swap ideas. A fantastic start to what will (hopefully) be a great summer ahead!
