Ian Mitchell: chairman

Ian's role as Chairman ensures that the personal touch is very much evident on the 'shop floor'. It's important that our team are recognised and that they frequently see, meet and chat to the directors. As Chairman, Ian's role is to maintain this level of communication, and visits sites at least every other month.

Ian started life in hotels as his family were already in the business. After obtaining his qualifications at Oxford Brookes University, he became a trainee at London's Savoy Hotel. After spells in Paris and New York, Ian returned to London and Claridges Hotel. The next ten years were spent in 5-star hotel management, with the final 3 years as banqueting manager at London's Cafe Royal.

Ian moved into contract catering in 1985 where he and Wendy met, and have worked together since they were both involved in the British Airways staff catering operation. Prior to starting bartlett mitchell, Ian was the managing director for London and East region for 3 years within a major contract catering company. Ian gathers to himself a truly loyal team of people who are enthused by his insatiable zeal for good food, fine wine and tip top service.
