Sommelier wins Champagne Bursary
Thursday, 13 August 2009 15:58

We are delighted to report that on Thursday 14th May,  Lynda Benbacha, bm Wine Sommeliere at the Royal Thames Yacht Club, won the Champagne Beaumet Bursary offered by the Association of London Club’s 2009.

There were 24 entries who completed a written paper in Part 1.  It appears that Lynda dropped only 1 mark and made it to the final 5, the other 4 having dropped 2 marks.

Part 2 of the competition was a practical demonstration of serving champagne and answering some questions from the  adjudicators.  The marks from Parts 1 & 2 were combined to produce the winners.  The judges did not know how the finalists had done in the written paper, nor which Club they represented.

Results: 1 RTYC; 2 COMMONWEALTH CLUB; 3 RAC; 4 REFORM CLUB; 5 IOD.

The main prize is a 2 day trip to champagne hosted by Champagne Beaumet/Hayward Bros for the Winner and Runner-up.

Congratulations Lynda!
