My earliest food memory is freshly fried sugared ring doughnuts from the stand at the local fairground. Also Sunday roasts, as I didn’t like them!

Food that’s trending for me at the moment is Peruvian cuisine. My favourite dish is ceviche, which is usually made from fresh raw fish cured in citrus juices, such as lemon or lime, and spiced with ají peppers. More seasonings are often added – like chopped onions, salt or coriander. Could this be the next sushi?

My favourite place to eat is the Michelin-starred L’Ortolan in Reading. It’s set in a former vicarage and serves modern French food. My most memorable meal was at the chef’s table there – we ate 14 courses and had an accompanying wine with every course.

My ideal dinner guests are the ones who enjoy experimenting with food, as they are easy to please and can be parted from their mobiles for a couple of hours!

I’m not necessarily inspired by cookbooks. Delia’s Complete Cookery Course still gets the most use in my house, even though I have at least 36 others on the shelf.

The three items I always keep in my fridge are Fever-Tree tonic, fresh limes and smoked salmon.
