Following on from the numerous great comments we’ve all received about last year’s youtube video clips and the Christmas drinks I came up with, this year we’ve decided to follow that with some foodie inspirations. My nephew came round and thought I’d lost the plot when he saw the Christmas decorations up but he was happy to tuck into the Apple Cider.

Its not fancy-schmancy nosh but good simple food, the sort of things I cook for my family and friends and the sort of recipes I’d like to share with you all. Laura, our social media guru and genius with a video camera, came to my house and spent two days bossing me around my own kitchen! I had no idea these graduates were quite so ‘in control’! Anyway, I did as I was told and cooked a few of my favourite things and I hope you like the outcome. I’ve done some things to prepare in advance for visitors, my favourite recipe for mince pies, a few drinks and there’s even a new way to cook Brussel sprouts. There is something for everyone – real home food and home cooking, just as we like it at bartlett mitchell.

Keep your eye out for them as they appear week by week and I hope you enjoy them. Let me know what you think and if you have any variations on the dishes I’ve done I’d be really interested to hear about them. I love discovering a new way of cooking something!

My earliest food memories are of my mum’s baking; coconut pyramid cakes were my favourite.
