Celia’s Pad Thai

You’ve all heard of Pop-up Restaurants, well we’ve started Pop-up Chefs. The idea is for guest chefs to visit our restaurants and cook up something special. As the only fundamentally foodie caterer, we keep fresh, good food at the top of our agenda, so we’re always looking for ideas to keep our customers not just visiting our restaurants, but genuinely excited about popping down for lunch.

We’ve started the ball rolling with acclaimed food writer and TV Chef Celia Brooks-Brown, whose latest book ‘Urban Farmer’ was the inspiration for our dishes this week. Celia’s book, ‘Urban Farmer’ is all about growing, cooking and eating seasonal produce because fresh vegetables taste better and are better for the environment. Celia came to Green Park to do demos and tastings in two of our restaurants, and she also inspired our chefs to look at vegetarian dishes in a different light.

Customers were treated to Celia cooking up her fantastic Pad Thai stir fry, whilst our chefs prepared some of her delicious dishes for the daily menu, including: Pumpkin Pasties, Spanakopita, Celeri au Gratin and a tasty Seven-Vegetable Tagine. Customer feedback was great; customers loved having an opportunity to ask Celia questions and try something new. Celia will be ‘popping-up’ in some of our other restaurants very soon, so get ready for some wonderful vegetarian dishes. Our next step is to invite local chefs, who are a celebrity in their community, to come in and share some of the food trends they are inspired by.

If you’d like to see what a fantastic day we had, take a look at this short video – it’s sure to tantalise your tastebuds.

My earliest food memories are of my mum’s baking; coconut pyramid cakes were my favourite.
